SUMMER HELP - INTERNS
Many employers are having a very difficult time hiring qualified summer help. This is due to the tremendous talent shortage and the high demand for certain levels of talent. If you have never employed summer help - you may want to reconsider your decision. Often, companies who hire students over the summer months or hire interns have a great advantage of attracting these indivduals upon graduation. If this interests you, it is also important that the work given these students is challenging - not just “grunt work” and that they are compensated fairly.
It is amazing how many technical firms, biotech companies and pharmaceutical companies are paying very lucrative internships to assure they have an established talent pool to select from when hiring needs arise. The government has even started offering lucrative internships in order to attract students after graduation.
Your company will be competing for this same talent so you might want to consider the benefits of offering Summer Jobs or Internships in the future. The greatest challenge we all face is finding the top talent we need to help us remain competitive. This is just one solution!
