IS THIS THE PERSON I HIRED?
Have you ever hired an individual you knew was a great fit for your company, only to question yourself shortly after they started? In this competitive job market, it is more important than ever to hire the RIGHT people. In essense you need to assess the candidate’s style as much as their expertise during your interview. To help you assess a candidate’s style, you might want to try some of the following questions:
1. Of all the jobs you’ve had, which did you like the most and why?
2. What role have your past supervisors played in support you in your job? Your career?
3. What type of company/organization do you prefer to work for?
4. Do you prefer working in groups or alone?
5. Describe a work group experience that you found rewarding?
6. What qualities do you value in your supervisor?
7. In what types of environments do you feel most effective?
8. How much direction and feedback do you need to be successful?
9. What is most exciting to you about change?
10. What is most frustrating to you about change?
11. How would you describe yourself as a supervisor?
12. How would your supervisor describe you?
13. What is the most difficult decision you’ve ever made at work?
14. What kinds of people do you like to work with?
15. What type of person do you find it most difficult to work with? Why?
16. What things frustrate you the most at work? How do you cope with them?
You can see once you have answers to these questions, you can more accurately access this candidate!
