IF YOU DO WELL, YOU SHOULD DO GOOD!
One of the greatest benefits of “convention season”, is traveling around the US and meeting with the Association Leaders who put these conferences together.
From the outside, this type of volunteerism looks like “hard work.” When I’m invited to participate in their meetings to discuss membership, fund raising, and programs it is apparent these individuals become each other’s Advisory Board and they enjoy the friendships and working relationships that are established as they work to better their Profession. There is something amazing that happens when you leave your MARK on your Profession. I’ve learned in my life “IF YOU DO WELL - YOU MUST DO GOOD!”
Other hidden benefits of volunteering for your Professional Association include:
Sharing ideas with your peers
Staying ahead of trends
Increasing your network
Often in volunteer work you have the opportunity to mentor other individuals and have the joy of watching them grow in your profession. The next time you are asked to volunteer, don’t give it a second thought - raise up your hand and “LEAVE YOUR MARK!”
