BECOME A MAGNET FOR TOP TALENT!
It is no secret that we are in a Candidate’s marketplace! It seems that there are just not enough qualified individuals to fill open positions!
Many companies have multiple openings and have utilized everything from Staffing Firms, Temp Agencies, Advertising in numerous newspapers, Advertising and Recruiting at Local and State Colleges, Posting On-line and even increasing the cash amount of their Employee Internal Referral Program.
The competition for Top Talent is fierce! Many employers are competing for the same individuals. Candidates are more than aware of the market. They can make demands knowing that they are probably going to be met by the Company they select as their next employer!
With so many companies “fighting” for the same few candidates, does your company have the competitive edge?
1. What is your company’s reputation?
2. What is your company’s Benefit package, Vacation policy, Holidays?
3. Are your Salary Levels competitive in today’s market?
4. Are your Raises & Reviews competitive?
5. What is your policy on Promotions?
6. What is your company culture? (Team environment/friendly)
7. What is your company’s employee tenure?
8. What, if any, are your company perks? (Parties, picnics, Holiday gatherings, Sporting Events, etc.)
You need to BECOME A MAGNET FOR TOP TALENT!
In such a competitive market you need to position your company as one of “The Best” in the industry!
If you are able to accomplish this successfully, you will have Candidates coming TO YOU searching for opportunities!
The crucial factor in getting your reputation where it needs to be must start - on the inside and work its way out! It also must start from the “Top” of your company, be enforced by Human Resources, and implemented by your employees! If you are keeping your employees happy and the morale of your office is positive two things will happen.
First, word will get out that your company is “the place to be!” Word of mouth WILL make or break you!
Second, if your employees are happy, they will not be recruited out by your competitors or staffing firms.
Another important area that needs to be a positive experience for candidates is your interviewing process. If your process is four interviews long and one of your competitors offers them a job “on the spot,”—the candidate feels loved by your competitor and you are back to square one. Regardless of your process, it is IMPERATIVE that your candidate feels that they will be your next hire. Even if you are not sure of this candidate, treat them as if you are, and then decide later! Their first impression of your company is a lasting one!
Overall, you need to “court” candidates you bring in to interview. More importantly, you need to make your company a company PEOPLE WANT TO WORK FOR….become a MAGNET FOR TOP TALENT!
