YOUR HIRING PROCESS

When is the last time you objectively reviewed your hiring process? Has it been weeks? days? months? years? This process should be reviewed on at least an annual basis to stay in step with hiring trends.
It is also important that you truly understand the priorities of the person you are interviewing and they want what your company can offer them in terms of challenge, benefits, growth, money, etc.

Just as important, when is the last time you updated your job descriptions. Even if you “think” you want to hire someone just like the last person in the job….that is not accurate. If someone has actually worked in a position for a period of time, you started to utilize the other talents this person brought to the table. It is so important to review your job descriptions each time you are in a position to hire.

It is important that everyone is also on the same page. You may agree with a job description and by the time it gets to the final interviewing process, the position doesn’t even resemble your job description. If you want to save a ton of time and hire top talent for your company, have everyone involved in the hiring process, sign off on the job description.

In our office we email a copy of our search criteria and ask that everyone in the hiring process sign off on the credentials we were given. Over 50% of the time, changes are made. Often the changes made are MAJOR changes and would have a dramatic affect on our search process. The same will hold true for you.

You want to hire the talent your hiring authorities need and the best way to start is with everyone on the same page regarding who you need to attract. Hopefully by having everyone sign off on the description you will save endless hours searching for the wrong credentials.

Always have a TARGET DATE to fill a position so you know which job needs immediate attention. With the tremendous shortage of top talent, make sure you consolidate interviews whenever possible. Never forget - TIME KILLS DEALS!

I hope you are able to attrach the top talent you need to hit all your goals!
