IS IT ALL ABOUT MONEY?
We are asked constantly if employees leave their jobs because of “salary”. While that is not ever the ONLY reason, a recent survey that was quoted by ABC this past week showed that if employees were given a 15% increase in compensation the majority of employees would stay at their current position. The reason I’m bringing this up…..?
If you have top talent in your company, their salaries might not be competitive in today’s job market. When employees change jobs often, their salaries increase with each move. You don’t want to entice them to stay by giving them a counter-offer when they threaten to leave. A counter-offer is usually paying this person what they were
actually “worth”. Review your key players and make sure
their compensation is more than fair. Money is never the ONLY reason, but it obviously has a great impact on their decision to stay or look for a new opportunity.
